No Problem In Family: Sharad Pawar After Ajit Splits NCP

A day after Ajit Pawar virtually split the NCP to join hands with the NDA, party chief Sharad Pawar on Monday said that "there is no problem" in the family.

Ajit, nephew of Sharad Pawar, joined the Maharashtra cabinet on Sunday and took oath as Deputy Chief Minister.

No Problem In Family: Sharad Pawar After Ajit Splits NCP

"There's no problem in the family. We don't discuss politics in the family. Everyone takes their own decision," NDTV quoted him as saying in an exclusive interview. The NCP chief stated that he has not contacted any MLA since Sunday's unexpected development.

"I didn't approach anybody since yesterday. I haven't contacted anybody. I am just leaving now for Satara," he said before leaving for Satara where he will address a gathering.

When asked to comment about the legal action that the party takes on the rebel MLAs, Pawar said that state president Jayant Patil will look into the issue. "About legal issues, I don't know, our state president Jayant Patil is consulting. This info will be available only with him at this point of time," he said.

Will This Revolt Have Any Impact On Opposition Unity?

The senior Pawar said that the Opposition meeting will happen in Bengaluru. However, JD(U) chief spokesperson K C Tyagi on Sunday said that it has been postponed. "Hopefully, the next meeting (of Opposition parties) will be convened after the monsoon session of the Parliament," Tyagi said.

The meeting was scheduled to be held on July 13 and 14.

What Supriya Sule Said On Cousin Ajit Joining Hands With NDA?

Speaking to ANI, she said that it was a "painful" development but her relationship with Ajit Pawar will not change. "My relationship with Ajit Pawar will not change, he will always remain my elder brother. We will rebuild the party," said NCP MP Supriya Sule.

"Whatever happened is painful. Sharad Pawar treated everyone like a family and he is our senior leader, I don't think speaking after his statement will be correct," Sule added.

Apart from Ajit, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Dilip Walse Patil, Dharmarao Baba Atram, Aditi Tatkare, Anil Patil and Sanjay Bansode have joined Shinde-led government.
