No More Waiting: First LPG Gas ATM Launched In Gurugram, Cylinders In Minutes
Amid an ongoing LPG shortage linked to the West Asia conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, a new solution has been introduced in Gurugram to ease the pressure on consumers.

North India's first LPG gas ATM has been launched in Gurugram, allowing residents to get a filled gas cylinder within minutes without waiting for home delivery.
What Is an LPG Gas ATM?
The LPG gas ATM is a fully automated vending machine that dispenses filled LPG cylinders and collects empty ones. It has been installed as a pilot project by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
The machine is located at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector 22, Sohna, and aims to provide quick and hassle-free service to customers.
How the System Works
The process to get a cylinder from the LPG ATM is simple and contactless:
- Customers log in using their registered mobile number
- Verify their identity through an OTP
- Scan a QR code
- Make payment via UPI or digital methods
Once the payment is completed, the machine automatically dispenses a filled cylinder and stores the empty one.
The entire process takes just 2 to 3 minutes, making it much faster than traditional delivery systems.
Lightweight and Safer Cylinders
The cylinders provided through this machine are different from the traditional iron cylinders.
- They are made of composite fibre, making them lighter
- A traditional cylinder weighs around 31 kg, while these weigh about 15 kg
- They are rust-free, cleaner, and more hygienic
- The transparent design allows users to easily check the gas level
These features make the cylinders easier to handle and safer for everyday use.
24x7 Availability for Consumers
One of the biggest advantages of the LPG ATM is that it is available 24 hours a day.
Consumers no longer need to wait for gas agency delivery or worry about running out of gas during odd hours. They can simply visit the machine and get a refill instantly.
The machine can store up to 10 cylinders at a time and automatically notifies the agency when stock runs low.
A Step Towards Modern Gas Distribution
This initiative is seen as a major step towards modernising India's LPG distribution system. By using technology, BPCL aims to make gas supply faster, more efficient, and user-friendly.
If the pilot project in Gurugram proves successful, similar LPG ATMs could be introduced in other cities across India.
