No more 'Chinnamma', Sasikala's posters at AIADMK headquarters pulled down

The members of the Panneerselvam camp welcomed the move to remove posters displaying Sasikala Natarajan's pictures

The AIADMK wants nothing to do with the Mannargudi family anymore and pulling down posters of Sasikala from the party headquarters indicates just that. For two days now cadres at the AIADMK headquarters are busy pulling down posters displaying Sasikala Natarajan's pictures.

Banners that displayed pictures of Sasikala alongside Jayalalithaa and M G Ramachandran had been adorning the headquarters premises ever since she was elected the interim general secretary of the party in December 2016. In the backdrop of merger talks between the two factions of the AIADMK and arrest of TTV Dinakaran, such posters are now biting the dust.

Posters that had become an eyesore to the Panneerselvam camp are now down and out from the AIADMK headquarters. K P Munusamy from the Panneerselvam camp, while speaking to the media about the merger, had asked why the party's mouthpiece carried reports on Sasikala Natarajan. He had also questioned the necessity to display posters and banners with her pictures at the party's headquarters.

The banners being pulled down at a time when four members of the Mannargudi family are in jail are indicative of both factions of the AIADMK wanting to go ahead with the merger talks. While the Panneerselvam camp feels new confidence after Dinakaran's arrest, the Edappadi Palanisamy camp hopes that scepticism is set aside.
