No Lungi or Nighties: Dress Code Imposed By Greater Noida Society Sparks Row

The dress code regulations implemented by an Apartment Owners' Association (AOA) in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida have sparked a debate over its dress code rules for residents.

According to report, Himsagar Apartment AOA in Greater Noida's Sector Phi 2 has urged its resident to be mindful of their attire when in common areas and park facilities.

No Lungi or Nighties: Dress Code Imposed By Greater Noida Society Sparks Row

The circular, dated June 10 requested the residents to not step out of their flats wearing lungis and nighties.

''It is expected from all of you that whenever you roam in the society at any time, you should pay special attention to your conduct and dress so that you do not give any chance to someone to object to your behaviour... Therefore, everyone is requested not to roam around wearing lungi and nightie which are home wear,'' the notice read.

The move has left people divided with some backing the order and others raising objections.

Speaking to ANI, Abhishek, resident of the society said,''This is a good decision taken by society and everyone must respect it, there is nothing to oppose. If women wear nighties and roam around, that will be uncomfortable for men and if men wear Lungis that would be uncomfortable for women as well so we need to respect each other.''

According to report, NP Singh, the President of the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) for the GB Nagar district development, supported the initiative, stating that wearing "ill-fitted loose clothes" in the common areas of the society does not look appropriate.
