No earthquake in Bengaluru, citizens need not panic
Bengaluru, Aug 16: The social media was abuzz with messages about a loud explosion which was heard in Bengaluru. At first it was rumoured to be an earthquake, but it has been dubbed as a rumour.
Reports said that tremors and loud noises were heard in several parts of the city. People reported that they heard such noises in Dollars Colony, RR Nagar, JP Nagar and Kumaraswamy Layout.

However it has now been confirmed that there was no earthquake. Scientists said that it was due to a change in the wind direction and rapid cloud movement. It also occurred due to air molecule oscillation, scientists also said.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Committee said, "there is a media report that people in and around RR Nagara Bengaluru heard big noise possibly due to Earthquake this afternoon. However no such tremors have been recorded in the EQ Observatory in Tippagonada halli.
