Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Confirms No DAP Fertiliser Shortage Amid Opposition Claims

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured the state assembly that there is no shortage of DAP fertiliser in Haryana. He urged the opposition not to spread misinformation about the availability of fertilisers. Saini was responding to a debate on the governor's address, emphasising that the government is meeting the demand for DAP and urea.

Saini Confirms No DAP Fertiliser Shortage

Saini highlighted that the BJP's third consecutive term in Haryana is significant for the state's development. He criticised the Congress for past corruption and favouritism, stating, "We undertook equitable development. We treated the entire Haryana as our family." He accused Congress of nepotism and regional bias during their rule.

Fertiliser Supply and Political Accusations

The chief minister accused Congress of spreading rumours about a DAP shortage for political gain. He stated that this year, more DAP is available compared to last year, with additional supplies arriving by November 15. Saini alleged that under Bhupinder Singh Hooda's Congress government, farmers often faced fertiliser shortages.

Saini addressed claims about a Jind farmer's suicide linked to DAP unavailability. He said it was unfortunate some politicised the incident, as the farmer's family reported he was mentally disturbed. "Instead of feeling sad over the death of the farmer, some people are trying to take political advantage of it," said Saini.

Support for Farmers and Economic Measures

The government is procuring 24 crops at MSP, with 51.40 lakh metric tonnes of paddy already bought out of 52 lakh metric tonnes received in mandis. The remaining paddy will be purchased by November 15. Saini announced a Rs 300 crore bonus for farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer on November 15, with an additional Rs 550 crore to be released soon.

On August 16, Rs 496.89 crore was disbursed to support farmers facing financial strain due to low rainfall. The government had earlier promised a Rs 2,000 per acre bonus to help alleviate this burden.

Addressing Poverty and Drug Issues

Responding to Congress claims that 70% of Haryana's population now falls below the poverty line, Saini explained changes in BPL card issuance. The BJP government considers income declared in Parivar Pehchan Patra family ID and affidavits for BPL eligibility, simplifying access for beneficiaries.

Regarding drug abuse concerns raised by the opposition, Saini stated that the government is tackling this issue seriously. In 2024 alone, properties worth Rs 7.4 crore belonging to 25 drug smugglers have been seized and attached.

Saini praised former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for setting right systems during his tenure, benefiting the current BJP administration. On stubble burning, he noted a 45% decrease in incidents this year with strict actions against negligent officers. "This is the first time in the state that officers have also been held accountable for pollution," he said.
