No damage to main plant; production to resume soon: CEAT

Mumbai, Feb 24: Tyre manufacturing company CEAT today said the massive fire at its facility did not impact production as the mishap occurred at its raw material store and no damage was done to the main plant.

There was no loss of life and damage to the main plant and machinery. Manufacturing activities were temporarily suspended yesterday and will be resumed at the earliest, a statement by the tyre unit said.

It said the management was fully cooperating with the authorities to find out the cause of the fire. A major fire broke out at the premises of the company at Nahur near Bhandup. The incident also disrupted train services on the central line.

The electricity had to be shut down at the Nahur railway station as a precautionary measure.
