Nitish Kumar Vs Tejashwi Yadav In Bihar Assembly: JDU Chief Says He Made Lalu Prasad Yadav

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday once again locked horns in Bihar Assembly. This time, they exchanged viral pats over political legacy in Bihar. Nitish Kumar boldly claimed that because of him, RJD supremo and Tejashwi's father Lalu Prasad Yadav rised in politics of Bihar. He said "What was there in Bihar earlier? It was me who made your father what he became. Even the people from your caste were asking me why I was doing this, but I still supported him."

This statement was a direct response to Tejashwi Yadav's earlier critique of Kumar's governance and political history.

Nitish Kumar Vs Tejashwi Yadav

Tejashwi Yadav, striking at the heart of Nitish Kumar's narrative, challenged the portrayal of Bihar's history, suggesting an attempt to erase the state's past before 2005. He argued, "Was Bihar non-existent before 2005? The Governor only reads what the government provides." He implied that the current administration's efforts to redefine Bihar's history might even confound the new Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan, given the repeated content in governors' speeches, especially concerning promises on recruitment. His critique extended to questioning Kumar's legacy and contributions before 2005, hinting at a deliberate oversight of the state's accomplishments and challenges before Kumar's tenure as Chief Minister.

The tension between Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav is rooted in a history of shifting political alliances and accusations of failed governance. In January, Lalu Prasad Yadav extended an olive branch to Kumar, suggesting a potential reunion in the Opposition bloc, a proposition Kumar decisively declined. "We (JDU) had mistakenly gone off track twice. Now, we will always stay together (in NDA) and focus on development work," Kumar stated, reaffirming his allegiance to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and dismissing any speculation about rejoining the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD and Congress.

This political back-and-forth comes at a crucial time as both the RJD and JDU ramp up their campaigns for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The debate in the assembly highlighted the deep-seated rivalry and contrasting visions for Bihar's future, with both leaders leveraging the state's past to galvanize support. Nitish Kumar's rebuff of Lalu Yadav's invitation in January to rejoin the Opposition bloc underlines the volatile nature of Bihar's political landscape, emphasizing Kumar's commitment to the NDA and his reluctance to revisit past alliances.

As the elections approach, the political dynamics in Bihar continue to evolve, with both Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav vying for the support of the electorate. The exchange in the assembly not only reflects the personal animosity between the two leaders but also underscores the broader ideological and political battle for Bihar's future. The contention over Bihar's historical narrative and governance challenges serves as a backdrop for an intensifying electoral contest, with both parties seeking to assert their vision and leadership for the state.
