Nitish Kumar backs BJP demand for Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday supported BJP's demand that India's higest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' should be conferred to the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"I think Atalji should get the award", Nitish told a news channel.
"I think Atalji should get the award", Nitish Kumar said.
Besides demanding Bharat Ratna for Vajpayee, Nitish also said that veteran socialist Ram Manoha Lohia also deserved a Bharat Ratna. "Lohia ji should have been given the Bharat Ratna long back", he said.
Yesterday, while talking to mediapersons, JD(U) leader Bashisht Narain Singh said, "We also support the demand for Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee. Vajpayee contributed a lot to Indian politics, so if someone (BJP) supports that we are with them."
Meanwhile, Union minister Farooq Abdullah also voiced the same demand, "I appeal to the Government to give the Bharat Ratna now finally to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji."
While addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh capital, Raipur on Sunday, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "I respect Sachin Tendulkar, but why hasn't Atal Bihari Vajpayee been awarded Bharat Ratna."
Prasad also said, "Sardar Patel was a national hero, why did he get Bharat Ratna after 41 years? Even Mulana Azad got it much later."
