Nitish donates over Rs 14 cr to PM's fund for Nepal quake victims

Patna, Sept 9: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday send a cheque of over Rs 14.41 crore to Prime Minister's Relief fund for rehabilitation work for Nepal quake victims.

"On the direction of the chief minister a cheque of Rs 14,41,42,552 crore has been sent to Prime Minister Relief fund with a request to principal secretary of the PM to utilise it in extending assistance to victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal," an official statement said.

The statement stated details of assistance extended by Bihar government to the people of Nepal when the earthquake ravaged that country in April.

The Bihar government, it said, sent buses to evacuate people stuck after earthquake, made available food items and established camps on the international borders for the victims.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made an appeal to people of the state to contribute for the Nepal earthquake victims.

General people, groups, NGOs and public sector had responded "overwhelmingly and contributed generously", the statement said adding Rs 14,41,42,552 crore was collected and sent to PM Relief Fund.
