Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has taken legal action against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary Jairam Ramesh for allegedly sharing misleading and defamatory news content about him on social media.
Misrepresentation of Interview

Gadkari's lawyer, Balendu Shekhar, stated that his client was shocked to discover the content and posts shared from the official Congress handle on the microblogging platform. Kharge and Ramesh deliberately posted a 19-second video clip of Gadkari's interview with The Lallantop web portal, concealing the contextual intent and meaning of his words.
Intent to Create Confusion
The legal notice asserts that a deliberate and malicious act was committed with the sole intention of creating confusion, sensation, and disrepute for Gadkari in the public eye. It further highlights an attempt to cause rifts within the solidarity of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is poised to win the trust of the people in the upcoming general election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Distortion of Interview
The notice emphasizes that Gadkari's interview was twisted and distorted by uploading a video devoid of its contextual meaning. A selected piece of Hindi caption was added, which misrepresented Gadkari's statements. The caption claimed that villages, laborers, and farmers are unhappy due to the lack of good roads, clean drinking water, hospitals, and schools, attributing these issues to Gadkari's role as a minister in the Modi government.
Demand for Removal and Apology
Despite being aware of the full contents of Gadkari's interview, which highlighted the government's efforts, Kharge and Ramesh intentionally posted the misleading caption and video clip. The legal notice demands the immediate removal or deletion of the post from the microblogging site within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Additionally, a written apology to Gadkari is required within three days. Failure to comply will result in Gadkari pursuing all available civil and criminal actions at the recipients' risk and expense.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's legal action against Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh highlights the importance of responsible and accurate communication in the digital age. Misrepresenting and distorting information can have serious consequences, and individuals must exercise due diligence to ensure the truthfulness of the content they share.
