NIRF 2024 Rankings Set To Unveil: Will Top Universities Maintain Their Rankings From The Last Three Years?
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 will be unveiled by the Ministry of Education tomorrow, August 12, 2024. The announcement is scheduled for 3 p.m. during a press conference led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The NIRF Rankings are an important annual event that assesses and ranks higher education institutions across India based on various criteria.
This year, the NIRF has expanded its scope by introducing a new category for agriculture and related sectors. Previously, the framework evaluated institutions in categories such as colleges, universities, management, pharmacy, engineering, medical, law, architecture, and dentistry. The inclusion of agriculture underscores the growing importance of this field in India's academic landscape.

The NIRF employs a detailed evaluation process with specific criteria including teaching and learning, research and professional practice, graduation results, outreach and inclusion, and perception. Each criterion is weighted differently: teaching, learning, and resources, and research and professional practice each carry a 30 per cent weight, graduation results hold a 20 per cent weight, and outreach, inclusion, and perception contribute 10 per cent each.
These rankings aim to promote competitive excellence among Indian universities by providing an objective evaluation. Institutions and students eagerly anticipate the rankings as they influence institutional strategies and academic choices.
The NIRF Rankings 2024 will be closely watched by academic institutions across the country. The results not only highlight top-performing institutions but also offer insights into potential areas for improvement, contributing to the overall enhancement of India's educational sector.
