NIA registers FIR in Udhampur attack case
Udhampur, Aug 7: The National Investigating Agency will officially take over the probe into the Udhampur attack case. A team of the NIA had already reached Udhampur on Thursday, Aug 6 and had began the ground work for the investigation.
The NIA will rely heavily on the interrogation of Mohammad Naved, the terrorist from Faisalbad in Pakistan who was caught alive by the security forces. The NIA today registered an FIR in connection with the case.
How Udhampur attack terrorist Mohammad Naved was recruited?
Naved may be taken to Delhi
Mohammad Naved may be taken to New Delhi where he will be interrogated. An NIA official informed OneIndia that no decision has been taken, but they are contemplating taking Naved to New Delhi where he would be lodged and questioned.
The NIA will look into the various aspects into the case. Apart from questioning Naved, the NIA would look into the local link to the attack as it has been revealed during questioning that some within Kashmir had helped the terrorists.
Naved has claimed that he and others were helped by locals and also a handler, Abu Kasim before launching the attack on the BSF convoy.
Border security review
The infiltration of terrorists who carried out the Udhampur and Gurdaspur attack is being reviewed seriously by the Home Ministry. While Naved would give a better picture of how the infiltration took place, the Home Ministry along with the other security agencies would review border security.
While on one hand it was claimed that infiltrations were almost reduced to nil, the fact that terrorists managed to come into India with such ease is being examined.
