NIA makes 2 significant arrests in North East
Guwahati, Dec 19: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made two significant arrests in North East in connection with separate cases.
While one arrest was in connection with the firing on Assam Rifles Personnel at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on 26.03.2015, the other relates to massacre of Adivasis at Kokhrajhar in Assam in Dec 2014.
In the Kohima case the NIA arrested an active cadre of the group of NSCN (K) namely Tapitu alias Tapi (25).
He was produced before the Special NIA Court, Patiala House, New Delhi and his four days transit remand was ordered.
In the second case the NIA arrested Jangsha Borgayari a cadre of the NFDB(S). He was directly involved in massacre of Adivasis in Pakriguri village of Serfanguri area in Kokrajhar District on 23rd December, 2014.
The team also recovered two SBBL guns from the immediate vicinity of accused person's house.
Accused person tried to escape and was evading arrest and was apprehended on pursuit from the adjacent jungle, where the recovery of weapons was also made on his disclosure.
His mobile phone was also recovered from his house. All the articles were seized as per due procedure.
