NIA finds various layers of conspiracy in Kokhrajhar, Assam attack

New Delhi, Dec 17: The many layers of the conspiracy that went into the horrific attack at Kokhrajhar in which scores of innocent tribals were killed is set to be busted by the National Investigation Agency.

NIA officials state that this mindless attack that was carried out on the tribals by the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit faction) comprised various layers of conspiracy.

It was a well-planned attack and there was a large cache of arms that had flown in before this incident took place on December 14, 2014.

NIA officials have taken into custody Kamakhya Daimary alias Kwnasong a seasoned and trained cadre of the NFDB(S). He was alleged to be part of this gruesome attack and is spilling the beans about the arms movement as well as the conspiracy.

The NIA which took over this case has been gradually unearthing the conspiracy. It was found that the tribals became the targets as the NFDB(S) felt that crucial information was being leaked to the Indian police officers.

This was weakening the NFBD(S) to a large extent and they decided to stage this attack in a bid to issue a warning to the tribals.

However this conspiracy is larger and more work is required before the final charge sheet in the case can be filed, the NIA says. The NIA has been making huge strides where the investigations are concerned and have already arrested over 10 persons in connection with this attack.

Weakening the groups such as the NFDB(S) is important in the wake of the Indian government striking a peace pact in a bid to bring about peace in the North Eastern states. Intelligence Bureau officials have warned that some of the groups opposed to peace may try and harm innocent civilians in a bid to spread fear and panic.
