NIA Deputy Superintendent of Police Arrested for Allegedly Demanding Rs 2.5 Crore Bribe to Protect Family from Terror Charges
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained Ajay Pratap Singh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Patna, along with two intermediaries. They are accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to provide favours in an ongoing investigation, according to officials.

Rocky Yadav, who owns Ramaiya Construction, filed a complaint against Singh. He alleged that Singh was extorting money by threatening to falsely implicate his family in a case involving illegal weapons. The NIA had searched Yadav's premises on September 19 and summoned him for questioning on September 26.
Bribery Allegations and Initial Demands
Singh, who is on deputation from the Income Tax department to the NIA, allegedly demanded Rs 2.5 crore from Yadav to avoid legal consequences. Yadav agreed to pay to protect his family from false charges. On September 26, Singh asked for an initial payment of Rs 25 lakh and provided a middleman's contact number.
Yadav arranged the money and instructed a relative to deliver it after contacting the middleman. The transaction reportedly took place in Aurangabad, Bihar, confirming the delivery of the bribe. Singh was allegedly in touch with the middleman during this time.
Further Demands and CBI Intervention
On October 1, Singh summoned Yadav again and demanded Rs 70 lakh, instructing him to deliver half the amount that day in Patna. Singh provided another handwritten note with a mobile number. Yadav contacted this number and requested more time, promising delivery on October 3 in Gaya.
The CBI informed senior NIA officers about these developments. After verifying the information, they coordinated with the NIA to set up a trap. The CBI apprehended Singh and his two agents while they were accepting Rs 20 lakh from Yadav.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigations
The CBI arrested Himanshu and Ritik Kumar Singh, the two alleged middlemen involved in the bribery case. Searches are being conducted at various locations in Gaya, Patna, and Varanasi. During these searches, Rs 20 lakh in bribe money has been seized.
A statement from the NIA confirmed these arrests and ongoing investigations. The CBI continues its probe into this bribery case involving high-ranking officials within law enforcement agencies.
