NIA Confirms Three Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists Responsible For Baysaran Attack Resulting In 26 Deaths

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has confirmed that only three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were responsible for the attack in Baysaran, Pahalgam. This incident resulted in 26 fatalities. The NIA's statement follows Operation Mahadev, where these three individuals were neutralised. Earlier reports had suggested more attackers, but the NIA clarified that only these three Pakistani terrorists were involved.

Survivors and local police initially believed there might have been four to five attackers, including a local participant. However, the NIA's investigation revealed that the trio conducted reconnaissance before selecting Baysaran due to its isolation, minimal police presence, and high tourist traffic. They also paid two overground workers Rs 3,000 for food and shelter. Charges are being prepared against these two individuals.

NIA's Findings on Pahalgam Attack

The Home Minister had previously informed Parliament about the neutralisation of three terrorists during Operation Mahadev. The NIA's findings now confirm these same individuals executed the Pahalgam attack. This official confirmation aligns with earlier statements made by government officials regarding the operation's outcome.

In addition to the Pahalgam investigation, NIA officials addressed the Malegaon blast case verdict. Although nearly a month has passed since the judgment was issued, the agency has yet to decide on filing an appeal. The Chief Investigation Officer is currently reviewing the case file before seeking legal advice at the branch level.

Malegaon Blast Case Review

The statutory period for filing a review petition is 30 days; however, it can be extended to 90 days if necessary. The NIA is carefully examining all aspects of the verdict before making any decisions on further action. This thorough review process ensures that all legal options are considered before proceeding.
