Two persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a JD(U) MLA at Ranchi by members of the CPI (Maoists). The National Investigation Agency arrested the two suspects Prafull Kumar and Jaiganesh.

NIA officials say that during the probe a larger conspiracy had been established into the killing of Ramesh Singh, the JD(U) legislator on July 9, 2008.
This case is related to the killing of Ramesh Singh Munda, then JD(U) MLA, his two security officers Shiv Nath Minz, Md Khurshid and one student, Ram Dhan Patar.
The Jharkhand police had registered a case following which the probe was handed over to the NIA. The NIA had earlier arrested 5 more accused persons including former minister Raja Peter Singh, after taking over the investigation.
