NIA Arrests Delhi Blast Suicide Bomber’s Aide Who Helped Arrange i20 Car

A major development has emerged in the investigation of the Red Fort blast, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arresting Amir Rashid Ali. He is accused of aiding Dr Umar Nabi, the suicide bomber behind the attack that occurred on November 10. This tragic incident resulted in at least 10 fatalities and left 32 individuals injured.

The explosion took place near the Red Fort Metro Station when a Hyundai i20 car detonated at 6:52 pm. The blast's intensity caused significant damage to nearby vehicles, and scenes from the site depicted mangled bodies and debris scattered across the area. The vehicle involved was registered under Amir Rashid Ali's name.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Amir Rashid Ali, hailing from Samboora in Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended in Delhi following an extensive search by the NIA. The agency had assumed control of the investigation from Delhi Police. Amir had reportedly travelled to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car later used as a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The NIA has confirmed through forensic analysis that Dr Umar Un Nabi, who perished in the explosion, was driving the IED-laden car. Dr Umar was an Assistant Professor in General Medicine at Al-Falah University in Faridabad and resided in Pulwama.
