4.40 pm: A person suspected to be a militant from Assam has been arrested in Davangere, Karantaka. The 28 year old Pabanur Hussain was today arrested in Davangere based on information that he could be involved in militant activities.

The police are however not clear whether he is part of the Bodo militant group or a Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh member. He is said to have worked as a lorry driver in Assam and fled to Karnataka, police sources informed.

3.45 pm: The police will probe the rape charges levelled against Sadananda Gowda's son, Karthik after the Karnataka High Court refused to quash the FIR. The high court which was hearing a plea filed by Karthik Gowda said that it would not quash the FIR.

Karthik who had been accused of rape had moved the high court seeking quashing of an FIR lodged against him by the police. With this order the police can go ahead with the probe.
