Newborn Girl Rescued from Borewell in Odishas Sambalpur After Five-Hour Operation
A newborn girl was rescued from an abandoned borewell in Odishas Sambalpur district after a five-hour-long operation. The baby is currently under observation in a hospital.
In a heart-warming and miraculous turn of events, a newborn baby girl was successfully rescued from an abandoned borewell in Odisha's Sambalpur district on Tuesday night. The rescue operation, which lasted over five hours, involved the tireless efforts of multiple agencies and officials.
Rescue Efforts and Collaboration
The rescue operation commenced at 4 pm and concluded around 9:30 pm. Initially, the Sambalpur Fire Service personnel took charge of the operation, but as the situation became more complex, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and other agencies joined forces to ensure the baby's safe retrieval.
The baby, who was found stuck inside the 20-foot deep iron borewell, showed remarkable resilience throughout the ordeal. Despite the challenging circumstances, she remained alive and responsive, giving hope to the rescue team.
Oxygen Supply and Visual Assistance
To sustain the baby's well-being during the rescue operation, oxygen was continuously supplied into the borewell. Additionally, a 100-watt electric bulb was lowered into the borewell to provide light and warmth, which helped revive the baby's cries after a period of silence.
The rescue team faced a critical challenge in locating the exact position of the baby within the borewell. To address this, the state government promptly dispatched a victim location camera from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda airport via a special flight. This camera played a crucial role in identifying the precise spot where the iron pipe needed to be cut to retrieve the baby safely.
Precautious Measures and Coordinated Efforts
The rescue operation demanded meticulous planning and precautions to ensure the baby's safety. The use of a gas cutter was ruled out due to the risk of generating excessive heat that could harm the infant. Instead, alternative methods were employed to cut the iron pipe carefully.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed immense relief and joy over the successful rescue. He conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the baby's well-being and longevity, seeking divine blessings from Lord Jagannath. The Chief Minister also commended the coordinated efforts of the ODRAF, Fire Services, district administration, police, and medical team, acknowledging their invaluable contributions in saving the infant's life.
The miraculous rescue of the newborn girl from the abandoned borewell stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment and collaboration of various agencies in Odisha. The successful operation underscores the state's guiding principle of valuing every life and exemplifies the dedication of its officials and personnel in ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
