New Vande Bharat Express to Connect Chennai and Tirunelveli

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate Tamil Nadu's third Vande Bharat Express on August 06, which will run between Chennai and Tirunelveli, as per an official statement. Railway officials state that passengers on this high-speed train can save up to two hours compared to regular express trains. The Vande Bharat train, consisting of eight coaches, will make stops only at Trichy and Madurai stations.

In preparation for the train's operations, the Divisional Manager of Madurai inspected three railway stations, namely Kallur, Palayamkottai, and Cheranmahadevi, to identify potential locations for the train's maintenance facility.

New Vande Bharat Express to Connect Chennai and Tirunelveli

Previously, on April 8, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express at a function held at the Dr MGR Chennai Central Railway Station. The train was equipped with modern features and passenger amenities. During the event, the Prime Minister also interacted with school students onboard.

The Vande Bharat Express is India's semi-high-speed train and now serves all rail-electrified states in the country. It has revolutionized rail travel by offering state-of-the-art amenities and reducing travel time for passengers.

The first Vande Bharat Express was launched on February 15, 2019, between New Delhi and Varanasi. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the train exemplifies India's 'Make-In-India' initiative and showcases the country's engineering prowess.
