New UP CM: Background check by Intelligence Bureau ready

The IB was roped in to scan the candidates immediately after the exit poll results were announced. All exit polls indicated a grand victory for the BJP and the final results proved every pollster right.

For the BJP to pick a candidate would depend on a lot of factors. It would need to balance the caste equations. It would need to keep the upper castes, Dalits, OBCs and Most Backward Castes happy.

Keshav Prasad Maurya is a front runner to the post. He has a long RSS background and after his appointment as state president, the party feels that he has very good organisational skills.

The other name doing the round is that of Manoj Sinha who is the Minister of State for Railways and Telecom. He belongs to the Bhumihar Brahmin caste and is considered a good administrator apart from having a good mass connect. The other name doing the rounds is that of Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma, a Brahmin leader. The name of Siddharth Nath Singh, the national secretary of the BJP too has cropped up. He hails from the Kayasth caste and he could be a neutral factor in all the caste equations in UP.
