New Rs 20 notes soon, old ones will remain valid: RBI

Both the number panels will have inset letter 'S', the RBI said.

The new Rs 20 notes will soon be issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The new series notes will be similar to the ones already in circulation.

An RBI notification said that the new notes will bear the inset letter 'S' in the number panel. It will bear the signature of RBI Governor Urjit R Patel, the notification also said.

Both the number panels will have inset letter 'S', the RBI said, adding that the design of these banknotes to be issued now is similar in all aspects to the Rs 20 banknotes in the same series issued earlier.

"All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender," the RBI added.
