New Rail Neer Plant in Prayagraj to Provide Safe Drinking Water for Railway Passengers

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to set up a Rail Neer bottled water facility in Saraswati High-Tech City, Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allocated 2.5 acres for this project, with an investment of Rs 25 crore. This initiative aims to enhance the supply of safe and hygienic drinking water for railway passengers.

Rail Neer Plant Set for Prayagraj

Rail Neer Plant to Boost Water Supply

Rail Neer, IRCTC's packaged drinking water, is available at railway stations and on trains. It is BIS-certified and undergoes RO and UV filtration. The new plant will produce 1 lakh litres daily, significantly increasing the availability of packaged drinking water. UPSIDA stated that this development would support industrial growth while ensuring safe water for travellers.

The plant's strategic location ensures efficient logistics. It will be within 5 kilometres of the railway station, 25 kilometres from Prayagraj Airport, and 15 kilometres from the highway. This positioning will facilitate a robust supply network for distributing the bottled water efficiently across the region.

Job Creation and Economic Impact

The establishment of the Rail Neer plant is expected to generate employment opportunities, both directly and indirectly, thereby boosting the local economy. By providing clean and high-quality packaged drinking water, it aims to prevent waterborne diseases among railway passengers.

IRCTC currently operates several Rail Neer plants nationwide, including two in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi and Hapur. The upcoming facility in Prayagraj will be the third in the state. "This project will not only promote industrial development but also play a key role in providing safe drinking water to railway passengers," said UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari.

The new plant underscores IRCTC's commitment to ensuring safe drinking water for passengers while contributing to regional economic growth through job creation and industrial development.
