New Delhi Railway Station Stampede Deaths: PM Modi Expresses Grief

Reacting to the saddening news of 15 deaths and several casualties at the New Delhi Railway Station stampede, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and extended his condolences to the family members of the deceased. PM Modi also prayed for the speedy recovery of people who got injured in the incident.

In a post on X (formerly known as twitter), PM Modi said, "Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured have a speedy recovery. The authorities are assisting all those who have been affected by this stampede."

Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena and acting Chief Minister Atishi reached the incident sight to take account of the situation. Police officers, ambulances and fire tenders have been deployed at the New Delhi Railway station to control the situation.

The tragic incident at New Delhi railway station, has resulted in the loss of 15 lives, among them three were children. Additionally, 10 individuals sustained injuries during this calamity, as confirmed by the Chief Casualty Medical Officer at LNJP hospital.

The catastrophe occurred amidst an unexpected surge of devotees at the station. These individuals had gathered in large numbers with the intent to journey to Prayagraj, leading to chaotic conditions.

It is important to highlight that the sudden influx of passengers was in response to the operation of two Kumbh Special trains. These trains were introduced specifically to accommodate the demands of the passengers wishing to attend the religious gathering in Prayagraj.
