New Delhi Municipal Council Budget Meeting to Prioritize Parks, Dhobi Ghats, and Markets
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is preparing its budget for the upcoming fiscal year, with a strong emphasis on enhancing parks and gardens, revitalizing and modernizing dhobi ghats, and allocating funds to improve markets within its jurisdiction.
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) members have proposed a comprehensive plan to upgrade parks, gardens, and dhobi ghats, while also allocating funds to modernize markets in the upcoming budget meeting scheduled for Wednesday. These recommendations aim to enhance public spaces and infrastructure within the NDMC area, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Revamping Parks and Gardens
Recognizing the importance of green spaces, NDMC members have suggested developing parks in New Delhi to meet global standards. Drawing inspiration from celestial themes, they envision creating parks based on concepts such as Nakshatra Van, Rashi Van, and Nav Graha Van. These themed parks would provide unique recreational experiences for residents and visitors alike.
Reviving and Modernizing Dhobi Ghats
To preserve and revitalize the traditional dhobi ghats, NDMC members have proposed their revival and modernization. With over 252 dhobi ghats employing more than 400 washermen in 16 areas, these facilities play a vital role in the community. By modernizing these spaces, the NDMC aims to support the livelihoods of washermen while enhancing the overall aesthetics of the area.
Facelift for Markets
Recognizing the potential of local markets, NDMC members have recommended a separate budgetary allocation to give them a much-needed facelift. The plan involves transforming these markets into world-class shopping destinations, attracting both residents and tourists. This initiative aims to boost the local economy and provide a vibrant shopping experience.
Support for Resident Welfare Associations
NDMC members have also emphasized the importance of supporting resident welfare associations (RWAs) in their functioning. By allocating funds to RWAs, the NDMC aims to empower these community organizations in addressing local issues and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
The upcoming NDMC budget meeting holds significant importance as it outlines the council's plans to improve public spaces, infrastructure, and community support. The recommendations put forth by NDMC members reflect their commitment to creating a modern, sustainable, and vibrant environment for the residents of New Delhi. As the budget is announced, the community eagerly awaits the realization of these transformative initiatives.
