Nepal-Madhesi agitation reaches Delhi

The Nepal-Madhesi protest has reached Delhi as Member of Parliament from Bihar Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today sat on a one-day protest at Jantar Mantar, trying to garner attention to the 11-point demand of Nepal's Madhesi leaders.

The protest comes days after Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to India. After meeting Oli, External affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had expressed hope that the "political mechanism" put in place by Nepal PM will address the remaining concerns of the Madhesis, and praised him for engaging them in a dialogue.

Madhesi protest reaches Delhi

"This is the power of democracy that we resolve our issues through political dialogue."

Alongside Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Biharis with Madhesi links were demanding that the changes will have to be made in Nepal Constitution provisions made against Madhesis.

The protest was organized under the banners of Bharat Nepal Maitri Yatra Samwad and United Madhesis of Nepal Association.
