NEET to be conducted in 23 new cities, 103 in total
The move comes in the backdrop of various state governments such as Tamil Nadu rejecting NEET exams over the inaccessibility of exam centres for rural students.
Union minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javdekar on Friday announced a new list of cities where National Eligibility cum Entrance Test exams for 2017 would be held. The exams that were so far held in 80 cities will now be conducted in 23 new cities across the country taking the total number to 103.

The new list includes 4 cities each from Karnataka and Maharashtra, 3 from Gujarat and Tamil Nadu each, 2 cities each from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala and one city each from Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. With the fresh list, NEET exams will now be conducted in many Tier II cities. The move comes in the backdrop of various state governments such as Tamil Nadu rejecting NEET exams over the inaccessibility of exam centres for rural students. The government is expected to extend the same to more cities.
