NEET-PG Postponement Signals Education System Decline Under Modi, Says Rahul Gandhi
In a recent development that has stirred the educational sector, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the postponement of the NEET-PG examination. The Union Health Ministry announced the delay of the exam, originally scheduled for June 23, citing concerns over the integrity of certain competitive exams. This decision comes amidst a backdrop of allegations regarding irregularities in various competitive examinations.

Rahul Gandhi, expressing his discontent on X, highlighted this postponement as a reflection of the deteriorating education system under Narendra Modi's leadership. He argued that students are being diverted from building their careers due to the government's inability to secure the future of the education system. Gandhi's remarks underscore a growing concern over the challenges faced by students in pursuing their academic and professional goals.
The government's response to these allegations included significant administrative changes. Subodh Singh, the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), was removed from his position. Furthermore, a seven-member panel led by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan has been established to review NTA's functioning and suggest reforms for examinations. This move indicates an acknowledgment of the need for systemic changes within the agency responsible for conducting these crucial exams.
Additionally, other competitive exams have faced similar scrutiny. The June edition of the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC-NET) was postponed due to "unavoidable circumstances and logistic issues." Moreover, the UGC-NET was cancelled after concerns were raised about the exam's integrity. The medical entrance exam NEET-UG has also been under investigation for alleged irregularities, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) taking charge of the probe.
This series of events has sparked a debate on the integrity and reliability of competitive examinations in India. With opposition parties raising concerns and calling for accountability, the government's recent actions reflect an effort to address these challenges. However, as these developments unfold, the focus remains on ensuring fairness and transparency in India's competitive examination system to safeguard students' futures.
