NEET 2017: SC raps CBSE for setting different questions for regional language papers

The court expressed unhappiness that a different set of questions were set for regional language papers. The court observed that the sole purpose of NEET was to have a common examination. This meant that there must be uniformity and the questions have to be identical. You cannot have a different set of questions for Hindi, English and other regional languages the court observed.

The SC also said that in future this ought not to happen. An affidavit stating that from next year onwards identical questions will have to be set irrespective of language should be filed by the CBSE and Centre during the next date of hearing, the court also ordered.

Several students who took the NEET 2017 exam had approached the court stating that the questions set for them in the regional languages were tougher compared to the ones set for Hindi and English. While alleging disparity, the students urged the court to strike down the exam and order fresh ones.
