New Delhi: NCW refutes claims by woman radio journalist

, Nov 29: Close on the heels of Tehelka molestation case, another woman journalist has alleged sexual assault against her employer and had approached the National Commission for Women, which she said, did not pay any heed to her complaint three years back, a charge strongly refuted by the Commission on Friday.

The woman employee of a private radio station claimed that she had approached the NCW to file a case of alleged sexual harassment against the company's CEO in May 2010 and the NCW treated her case like an "everyday affair".

NCW on Friday said that the complainant is "presenting wrong facts and misquoting the Commission". "I have checked the details of the case. The complainant is presenting wrong facts and misquoting the Commission," NCW member, Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar said.

Prabhavalkar said that the woman had approached the Commission in May 2010 saying that the CEO had been sexually harassing her for more than a year and gave details of one particular incident which happened on May 7.

Prabhavalkar said after her allegations, the NCW reopened her file which suggested that it had offered their support and ordered the organisation to form a in-house complaints committee to address the issue as per the Vishakha guidelines.

"However, the girl had later approached the Commission stating that the three persons who have been made a part of the in-house Committee are CEO's aides and they will favour him. She said that she will not get justice in her case," Prabhavalkar told PTI.

The NCW member said that in turn, we asked the complainant to suggest names agreeable to her so that they can probe the matter, but she did not get back to the Commission after that. Instead, the complainant later went to the Police and the Delhi High Court.

"I have checked the minutes of the case and later she had gone to the court. Now the matter is subjudice in the Court," Prabhavalkar said. The journalist had filed a complaint at the Chittaranjan Park police station which booked the CEO under Sections 354 and 509 of the IPC and chargesheeted him last year.

He was arrested and is currently out on bail. Her FIR stated several instances of alleged sexual harassment that took place not only in Delhi, but in other places where she went with the CEO during work.
