NCP leader Praful Patel supports Narendra Modi's 'clean chit'

New Delhi, Jan 29: Senior NCP leader and Union Minister

has said that the matter surrounding BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate

must be laid to rest after SIT's clean chit to him in 2002

violence.

Patel said, "If the judicial system has given a pronouncement then we ought to respect it. We need to not question it further. Politics is not just about the judicial system. Politics is also about perception and I think it is important for political parties to go to the people based on what we believe in."

Perception is important and if the judicial system has given a finality to a controversy, we should let it rest there," he said.

"No conspiracy can be proved against the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet as they showed alacrity in requisitioning the Army and took necessary steps to control the situation," an Ahmedabad Metropolitan court had said in its judgement and gave cleared Modi of all the charges.
