NCC Cadets Achieve Historic Milestone with Inaugural Flight of Air Squadron in Udhampur

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Jammu and Kashmir marked a significant achievement with the first flight of its newly formed Air Squadron. This event, held in Udhampur, was organised by the NCC directorate of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. A defence spokesperson noted that this milestone enhances training opportunities for cadets in the region.

NCC Cadets Conduct Inaugural Flight in Udhampur

Wing Commander Nitin Yadav leads the 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC, the sole Air NCC unit in the area. The squadron is equipped with microlight aircraft to provide cadets with practical aviation training. This initiative aims to develop leadership skills and prepare cadets for careers in both military and civilian sectors.

Cadet Experiences and Aspirations

Cadet Siya Kotwal had the honour of being the first to fly, describing it as an unforgettable experience. "Flying was an experience I will never forget. It’s a dream come true and an opportunity I never imagined I would get," she expressed. Cadet Aviral from Army Public School Udhampur shared similar enthusiasm, stating that the experience motivated him to pursue a career in the armed forces.

Other cadets, including Akshat Gupta and Bhumika Sharma, also found the experience inspiring and memorable. They echoed sentiments of excitement and motivation following their flights. The event highlighted the potential of aviation training to inspire young minds.

Leadership and Future Prospects

Wing Commander Nitin Yadav emphasised the importance of this inaugural flight. "This first flight marks the beginning of a new chapter in the NCC’s mission to inspire and challenge the youth of our nation. We are proud to provide cadets with opportunities to explore new horizons and enhance their skills," he stated.

The 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC is expected to play a crucial role in expanding aviation training in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative aims to instil discipline, confidence, and leadership qualities in young cadets, preparing them for future roles in national development.
