Series Of Lapses, Last Minute Tweaking Says NCB Report On Officer Who Arrested SRK’s Son

A report filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) points to various lapses against Sameer Wankhede who arrested Aryan Khan, the son of Sharukh Khan.

The report says that he had made multiple trips abroad with his family and owned vast property disproportionate to his income.

The officer is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The agency has accused him of demanding Rs 25 crore from Khan. He is also alleged to have threatened to frame Aryan Khan if the bribe amount is not paid.

The NCB report also says that the names of Aryan Khan and his friend Arbaaz Merchant were added at the last moment and the name of some other suspects were dropped. During the raid, despite the recovery of rolling paper from a suspect, she was allowed to go, the report also says.

The report also allege that there were a series of lapses the custody of Aryan Khan. It was intentionally compromised by Wankhede to give an opportunity to Kiran Gosavi, an independent witness in the Mumbai cruise raid, for misconduct and violation of Central Civil Services Laws.

The report says that Wankhede between 2017 and 2021 had made six trips abroad with his family. The list of nations included the United Kingdom, Portugal, South Africa, Ireland and Maldives, where he is said to have stayed for 55 days. The officer however claimed that he had spent only Rs 8.75 lakh, which barely covers the air travel.

The report also mentions a series of expensive watches and other property of the officer that are disproportionate to his known source of income. This includes a Rolex watch that was apparently sold to him at a price far lower than the MRP ie Rs 17 lakh down from Rs 22 lakh.

He also owns four flats in Mumbai and vast acres of land in Washim, the report added.

The report says that he and his wife had purchased a flat worth Rs 1.25 crore and the source of this money remains a mystery. The Income Tax returns filed by him and his wife show their annual income as Rs 45,61,460. This does not explain how they had funded their foreign trips and other assets.
