NC writes to Governor, offers support to PDP
Srinagar, Jan 13: Reiterating support to People's Democratic Party in the larger interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister and Working President National Conference Omar Abdullah on Tuesday urged the Governor N N Vohra to consult the party leadership before taking any final decision regarding the future of the present Assembly and its viability in the formation of a government.
In a communique addressed to the Governor, delivered to him by Provincial President Jammu Devender Singh Rana this afternoon as a consequence of the meeting of Core Group at Srinagar yesterday, Omar Abdullah informed that National Conference has offered to support to PDP, which has emerged as the single largest party in the just concluded Assembly elections.

"However, the political impasse in the state, due to indecisiveness of the PDP has led to the imposition of the Governor's rule and placing of the State Assembly in suspended animation despite an overwhelming participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the electoral process", the letter adds.
Earlier, National Conference MLA elect, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi told that during a meeting at party headquarters in Srinagar, it was decided that working president Omar Abdullah will formally write a letter to the Governor of the State in which the party will inform the Governor about its unconditional support to the People's Democratic Party.
Sources told that National Conference working president Omar Abdullah presided a party meeting in which top leaders including Ali Muhammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Sakina Itoo, Davinder Singh Rana, Altaf Ahmed Kaloo, Muhammad Akbar Lone and other party leaders were present.
Sources said that besides, evaluating the performance of the party in different assembly segments across Jammu and Kashmir in the meeting, some leaders suggested that the party should write a formal letter to PDP offering them unconditional support in government formation.
However, sources added that some leaders opposed the idea and it was accordingly shelved.
Sources told that some party leaders suggested that instead of writing to PDP, it was convenient to inform about the support to PDP in writing to the Governor of the State.
"The party working president Omar Abdullah will write a letter to the Governor of the State in which he will intimate him about the unconditional support that NC is ready to offer to PDP for government formation in the State," Gurezi said adding that during the meeting it was felt that Grand Alliance is the best possible solution to end the present stalemate in the state.
