The Indian Navy's third Swavlamban seminar, aimed at boosting naval innovation and indigenisation, is scheduled for October 28-29. This year's event will take place at the Bharat Mandapam complex. Over the past two seminars, the Navy has received over 2,000 proposals from Indian industries, resulting in 155 challenges to develop prototypes, according to a Navy spokesperson.

Focus on Innovation and Indigenisation
The Swavlamban initiative has facilitated collaboration with more than 200 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the iDEX scheme. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, iDEX Innovations for Defence Excellence provides a unified platform for stakeholders in defence and aerospace sectors. It aims to contribute to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Swavlamban 2024 aims to build on experiences from previous seminars and offer fresh momentum to innovation and indigenisation efforts. The event will feature products showcasing niche technologies like air and surface surveillance, autonomous systems across various domains, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies.
Interactive Sessions and Discussions
On October 29, domain-specific interactive sessions will allow policymakers, innovators, startups, MSMEs, financial institutions, and venture capitalists to engage in discussions. These sessions will cover topics such as emerging technologies, future warfare, indigenisation, enhancing the innovation ecosystem, and fostering an innovative culture.
The seminar's focus on collaboration with MSMEs underlines its commitment to nurturing local talent and resources. By engaging with diverse stakeholders, Swavlamban seeks to create a robust platform for defence innovation in India.
The event promises to provide substantial impetus to ongoing efforts in naval innovation. By showcasing cutting-edge technologies and facilitating dialogue among key players, it aims to strengthen India's defence capabilities through homegrown solutions.
