Navy Day Celebrations: Two-Day Rehearsal Begins in Puri Ahead of December 4 Events

Preparations are underway for the Navy Day celebrations on December 4 in Puri, Odisha. A two-day rehearsal commenced on Sunday at the Blue Flag beach, according to officials. President Droupadi Murmu will attend the event, which will feature 15 warships and 40 aircraft. Navy Day is celebrated annually on December 4 to mark India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.

Rehearsal for Navy Day Celebrations in Puri

The Indian Navy will showcase its operations in Odisha for the first time. INS Chilka’s commanding officer, B Deepak Aneel, stated that preparations began months ago. The event will include ships, submarines, aircraft, and marine commandos. "You will have a spectacular show," he said. Navy personnel will perform combat demonstrations, including stealth operations by MARCOS commandos.

Navy's Readiness and Support

The event underscores the Indian Navy's readiness and bravery in protecting the nation, according to Aneel. Puri district collector Siddharth S Swain mentioned that the district administration is actively supporting the December 4 programme. "A two-day dress rehearsal began today," Swain said. Infrastructure developments have been made to ensure people enjoy the event.

Police deployment has been arranged on the beach and in the pilgrim town for security. The Indian Navy plans a grand operational demonstration off Puri's coast, showcasing its naval fleet's strength and versatility, another official noted. This event pays tribute to India's maritime heritage and offers people a chance to witness naval operations firsthand.

Event Arrangements and Invitations

Puri SP Vineet Agarwal confirmed that all arrangements for the rehearsal are complete. Indian Navy officials have invited Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibya Singha Deb to attend the Navy Day programme. The Navy’s musical band is set to entertain visitors with patriotic tunes and concerts.

The celebrations highlight not only India's rich maritime history but also provide an opportunity for public engagement with naval operations. The event promises a display of naval prowess and cultural performances, making it a significant occasion for attendees.
