Navneet Rana, Amravati MP, Officially Joins BJP with Vision for Development

In a significant political move, Navneet Rana, the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Amravati, has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Nagpur. This event took place late on Wednesday night at the residence of Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the BJP's state unit chief. The ceremony saw the presence of Rana's supporters and senior BJP leaders from various regions including Amravati, Nagpur, and Wardha. Ravi Rana, her husband and a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), was also present during this pivotal moment.

Amravati MP Rana Joins BJP

The BJP's Central Election Committee had earlier announced Navneet Rana as the party's candidate for the Amravati seat. Bawankule confirmed that she is slated to file her election nomination on April 4. At a press conference held around midnight at Bawankule's residence, Navneet Rana shared her enthusiasm about joining the BJP. She highlighted her admiration for the development path laid out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the past five years.

Rana expressed her commitment to ensuring that Amravati is among the 400 seats the BJP aims to secure in the upcoming general elections. Bawankule emphasized that Rana's decision to join the BJP was driven by her support for PM Modi's Viksit Bharat vision. He also criticized Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray for his actions during his tenure as Maharashtra's chief minister, which led to Rana's imprisonment over chanting Hanuman Chalisa.

Navneet Rana's political journey has been noteworthy. She initially contested from Amravati on a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket in 2014 but was defeated by Shiv Sena's Anandrao Adsul. In a turn of events, she contested as an Independent supported by NCP in 2019 and emerged victorious against Adsul. Post-2019, Rana began supporting the BJP.

In another development last month, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on Navneet Rana's plea challenging the Bombay High Court's decision to cancel her caste certificate. The High Court had ruled on June 8, 2021, that the Mochi caste certificate was obtained through fraudulent means using fabricated documents and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the Amravati MP.

This transition marks a significant chapter in Navneet Rana's political career as she aligns with the BJP, reinforcing her commitment to contribute towards realizing PM Modi's vision for a developed India.
