Navjot Singh Sidhu diagnosed with 'life threatening disease', PM Modi wishes him quick recovery

New Delhi, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished former cricketer and BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu a quick recovery after the latter suffered a deep clot in one of his blood vessels.

"Dear @sherryontopp ji (Navjot Singh Sidhu), get well soon. You are a fighter and will overcome the illness in your trademark style. Our prayers are with you," tweeted Modi.

PM wishes quick recovery to Sidhu

Sidhu was on Tuesday admitted to city-based Indraprastha Apollo hospital after suffering an acute deep vein thrombosis, a deep clot in the blood vessel.

Acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a life threatening condition if not treated on time. During DVT, clots create obstruction in the blood vessel, hindering the normal blood flow.

Doctors treating Sidhu said that his condition was fine and he was recovering well after necessary treatment.

"Sidhu has been put on blood thinners and has been recovering well. His condition is said to be stable, as of now," a statement from the hospital said.

Meanwhile, Sidhu had tweeted about his health, saying: "Down but Not Out! Life threatening disease (DVT) With God's Grace will recover. Life is Fragile, handle with Prayer."
