PM Narendra Modi remembers Indira Gandhi on 30th death anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 31: Prime Minister

on Friday remembered former prime minister

on her death anniversary.

"I join my fellow countrymen and women in remembering former PM (Smt) Indira Gandhi on her Punya Tithi (death anniversary)," Modi said in a tweet.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated 30 years ago Oct 31 by her own bodyguards. She was killed by her Sikh bodyguards more than four months after Operation Blue Star, which was launched on the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Earlier this morning, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi reached Indira Gandhi memorial Shakti Stala to pay floral tribute-
