NaMo Vichaar Manch and CPI(M) unite in Kerala
Party sources informed that nearly 2000 former RSS workers will be welcomed to the Left party in an official function on Tuesday. The function will be presided over by the CPI(M) strongman Pinarayi Vijayan. Pinarayi's rival and former chief minister VS Achuthanandan has dubbed the move 'disastrous'. However, the district wing has ignored Achuthanandan's opposition and has decided to go ahead with the decision.
NaMo Vichar Manch was formed by rebel leader of BJP with the aim of promoting Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as prime minister. They broke away from the state BJP after having difference in opinion with the leadership.
In 1999, the present district secretary of CPI(M) P Jayarajan was attacked by RSS and in retaliation, CPI(M) workers hacked to death a Yuva Morcha leader KT Jayakrishnan when he was taking class in a primary school. Several students in the class witnessed the brutal murder, which intensified the rivalry between the two parties.
However, Jayarajan and Vasu have decided to leave the past behind and come together to workagainst the "anti-farmer" recommendations of the Kasturirangan Committee on Western Ghats.
"The present BJP leadership in Kannur is hand in glove with criminal elements like unauthorised quarry owners and estate managements" said Vasu.
