Naming diplomats- Pakistan has broken all rules of decency and diplomacy
The names of the officials at the mission is not a secret and both governments know their names. However to name them publicly is breaking every possible rule in the book, the officer also noted.
New Delhi, Nov 4: Pakistan has broken all rules of diplomacy and decency. It has named 8 Indian diplomats which has forced India to recall all of them. The immediate fall out of this episode would be reducing the number of diplomats in the missions further.

India and Pakistan had an agreement which allowed posting of 110 diplomats in their missions. Following the Parliament attack, the number was reduced to 50. With tensions escalating the number was further brought down to 20. Today the number of diplomats is at 18 in each others mission.
While in the past the diplomats were reduced owing to tensions between the two countries, this time around there is a difference. Pakistan has broken all rules to openly name the diplomats and even accuse them of coordinating with terrorists to undertake subversive activities in Pakistan.
An officer with the Home Ministery informed that this is for the first time that the rule is being broken. The names of the officials at the mission is not a secret and both governments know their names. However to name them publicly is breaking every possible rule in the book, the officer also noted.
Vikash Swarup, the MEA spokesperson said that it is especially regrettable that Pakistani authorities have chosen to level these allegations after deciding to recall, on their own, six officials of the Pakistan High Commission, some of whom may have been named to Indian authorities by Mehmood Akhtar. The allegations against the Indian officials represent an after-thought and a crude attempt to target these officials for no fault of theirs.
