Nagaland lynching: 18 arrested, 1-member judicial panel probes incident

Dimapur, March 8: The police have arrested 18 people in connection to the lynching of an alleged rapist here on March 5.

A crowd of 10,000 people overpowered the personnel of the central jail here to drag the accused out and lynched him. The police were interrogating people in connection to the incident.

Prohibitory orders continued to be into effect in the area. FIRs had been lodged against unknown assailants.

A one-member judicial commission has been set up to probe the incident. Security has also been beefed up in Dimapur.

The kin of the victim sought a CBI probe into the case.
