Nagaland CM's bodyguard killed in accidental firing

Kohima, Oct 31: A bodyguard of Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang was killed in an accidental firing which took place at Benreu village under Peren district of Nagaland on Oct 31.

The victim, identified as a constable of the Nagaland Police, Moakumjuk, was shot in the head from a muzzle loading gun, police sources said. The gun went off accidentally from one of the villagers while they were according a traditional welcome to the Chief Minister and his entourage for the Lamsimngyi festival at Benreu village.

The victim succumbed to his injuries on the way to Peren Hospital, the police said.
