N Biren Singh's Net Worth: How Rich Is Outgoing Manipur Chief Minister?
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has resigned from his position in an effort to curb internal dissent within the state BJP as his government faces the prospect of a Congress-led no-confidence motion and a possible floor test. The resignation was submitted to the Governor earlier today.
Despite the BJP's numerical advantage, the withdrawal of support by ally Conrad Sangma's National People's Party (NPP) had raised concerns about party unity. Reports suggested that several BJP MLAs pushing for a leadership change might have defied the party whip if a floor test had taken place, further destabilizing the government.

Biren Singh's Net Worth: Poorest CM in Northeast
Biren Singh, with a net worth exceeding ₹1 crore, holds the distinction of being the poorest Chief Minister in the Northeast. His election affidavit reveals that he owns assets worth ₹1,08,46,392, significantly lower than those of his son-in-law, RK Imo Singh, who has declared assets over ₹5 crore, making him nearly five times wealthier than the outgoing CM.
Breakdown of Biren Singh's Assets:
Movable Assets: ₹69.46 lakh
Immovable Assets: ₹14.66 lakh
Liabilities: ₹1 lakh+
Income (2020-21): ₹24.23 lakh
Other Assets: A Walther .38 pistol worth ₹1.75 lakh and gold jewelry valued at ₹5.97 lakh
Son-in-Law RK Imo Singh's Affluent Profile
As per a report in The Indian Express report, RK Imo Singh, a BJP candidate from the Sagolband Assembly Constituency, has assets valued at ₹5,10,94,917.93, as per his poll affidavit. His movable assets alone amount to ₹1.14 crore, including:
- ₹2.16 lakh cash in hand
- Over ₹37 lakh across seven bank accounts
- Three vehicles: Maruti Gypsy (₹6.5 lakh), Mahindra Scorpio (₹16.68 lakh), Harley Davidson (₹18.38 lakh)
- Firearms: A shotgun and a .38 pistol
With Biren Singh's resignation shaking up Manipur's political landscape, all eyes are now on the BJP's next move in appointing a new leader and navigating the looming floor test.
