Mystery Pigeon With Red And Yellow Rings Found Near LOC In Jammu, Probe On

Security forces in Jammu have launched an investigation after a strange pigeon was caught near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector. The bird's unusual markings and tags have raised suspicions among officials, as such incidents have been reported in border areas before.

The pale grey pigeon, identified by its two distinct black bars on each wing, was captured by a local villager in Kharah village on Friday. What made the bird suspicious were the red and yellow rings attached to its legs.

The rings were engraved with the words "Rehmat Sarkar" and "Rizwan 2025", along with a set of numbers.

Additionally, stamps were found on the pigeon's wings, adding to the mystery. Since the village lies close to the sensitive LoC region, the police took the matter seriously and handed the bird over to Pallanwala Police for further examination.

Authorities Begin Investigation

Police officials are now trying to determine whether the pigeon was trained or used for long-distance communication, possibly across the border. While there is no confirmed link to any terror or espionage activity, the authorities are proceeding with caution given the region's security sensitivity.

According to police sources, the pigeon is being kept under observation while experts analyze the markings and inscriptions to trace their origin. Security agencies are also reviewing past cases where birds were reportedly used for carrying messages or surveillance across borders.

Officials said that this is not the first time such a case has been reported near the LoC. In previous instances, pigeons and even drones have been suspected of being used for cross-border communication.

'Pakistan Zindabad' Balloon Found in Another Area'

In a separate incident earlier this month, a red balloon with the words "Pakistan Zindabad" written in Urdu was found in an agricultural field in Khanpur village, located in the Ramgarh tehsil of Samba district. The balloon was discovered by local residents, who quickly informed the police.

Authorities suspect that the balloon may have floated over from Pakistan, based on its markings and location. The balloon has been taken into custody by Ramgarh Police Station, and investigations are underway to determine its origin.

Officials have urged residents in border areas to stay alert and report any unusual objects, animals, or aerial movements immediately.

Increased Vigil Along the Border

Earlier this month, security forces also recovered a suspicious packet near the Line of Control in Poonch district after drone activity was detected in the Khari sector. These repeated incidents have prompted tighter security measures along border regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

While none of these findings have been officially linked to any organized operation, authorities are not taking any chances. The investigation into the mysterious pigeon and the balloon is ongoing, as security forces remain on high alert to prevent any potential threat from across the border.
