Myanmar shocks all, says India didn't kill terrorists inside its territory

Yangon, June 11: Days after a historic mission by Indian Army, Myanmar now took a U-turn. Official statement from Myanmar refused to accept all media reports and claimed that India did not kill any militants inside its territory.

Myanmar's statement shocked all Indians as Indian government on Wednesday, June 10 announced that Indian Army had gone inside Myanmar's territory and hunted down a terrorists group operating in Manipur, close to Myanmar's long western border.

However, Zaw Htay, director of Myanmar's presidential office, wrote on Facebook, "According to the information sent by Tatmadaw (Myanmar army) battalions on the ground, we have learned that the military operation was performed on the Indian side at India-Myanmar border."

He also wrote in the Facebook post, "Myanmar will not accept any foreigner who attacks neighbouring countries in the back and creates problems by using our own territory."

The surgical strike inside Myanmar was carried out by a crack team of about 70 commandos of the Indian Army who finished the operation within 40 minutes, leaving 40 Naga militants dead and many injured.

The decision of "hot pursuit" was taken hours after the Naga militants killed 18 soldiers in an ambush in Chandel area of Manipur on June 4 and clearance was obtained from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the night of June 7, soon after his return from Bangladesh, said sources privy to the details.
