Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case: CBI probe if only state govt recommends, says Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, July 24: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured CBI inquiry into Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case if only the state government recommends agency probe. Rajnath Singh was replying to Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan's demand for the CBI probe.

Rajnath Singh said, "If state government recommends this, we will consider a CBI inquiry."

According to Patnadaily, 40 children at the Muzaffarpur shelter home were said to be sexually abused. This was confirmed by Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harpreet Kaur adding an FIR was lodged against the staff of Sewa Sankalp Ewam Vikas Samiti, an NGO, on May 31.

Former deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav alleged that owner of the NGO that runs the shelter home is close to CM Nitish Kumar. Tejashwi said, " Owner of the NGO that runs the shelter home is close to CM Nitish Kumar, had even campaigned for him in elections."
