Muzaffarnagar: Woman burnt alive for dowry

Muzaffarnagar, May 9: A woman was burnt alive allegedly by her husband and in-laws for not meeting their dowry demands at Jhaberpur village in the district.

The body of the victim has been sent for postmortem and a case has been registered against her husband Nitu, father-in-law Raj Kumar and mother-in-law Sudesh in this connection, police said.

The victim's father Krishanpal has alleged that the accused doused his daughter with kerosene and set her ablaze yesterday. In another incident, a 35-year-old woman identified as Ajiba Begum was shot dead by some unidentified assailants at her house in Kairana town of Shamli district last night SP Ghanshaym Singh said some people entered her house and opened fire on her, killing her on the spot. A case has been registered against five persons in this connection, police said.
